FAQ for Medic-CE

General Questions
How many credits can I obtain in one day?

For self-paced courses, you cannot exceed 12 hours in a 24-hour period. This is for your protection, as most states will not allow you to recertify if you take more than 12 hours of self-paced training in one day.

NOTE: If you are certified in Los Angeles County, CA, you cannot exceed more than 8 hours in a 24-hour period.

For virtual, instructor-led courses and programs, there is no limit on the number of hours you can take in a day as you are required to be in a live classroom with a live instructor and other students. NOTE: It is not typical for Medic-CE to schedule an entire refresher program in a 24-hour period.

How do I receive a copy of my certificate for the EMS refresher program?

You have to complete the entire program before your certificate is available. This is the same requirement you would have if attending a refresher program in person.

Why do I need to provide my license information?

Your state and or national license information is required by accreditation agencies in order for you to receive credit for the courses that you take. This information will be printed on your course completion certificates.

NOTE: If you hold both a national and a state license, please provide both license numbers and expiration dates when registering.

Does my state accept Medic-CE’s EMS CE courses?

Please refer to the accreditation page for information on which courses and programs are accepted in your state and or NREMT.

Do you submit my course completion records to the National Registry?

The NREMT does not currently allow us to submit them directly. We submit your CE records to CAPCE, and you can import your records from CAPCE to the NREMT. Non-CAPCE accredited CE and in-house content are not submitted to CAPCE.

What accreditation do Medic-CE’s Fire courses have?

Fire courses on Medic-CE.com are accredited by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP). You need a Fire license to use the Medic-CE fire course library.

Does the Critical Care Transport Review Program certify me to be a Critical Care Paramedic or Flight Paramedic?

No. Upon successful completion of the 48-hour program, you will be eligible to schedule an exam with The International Board of Specialty Certification. Our Critical Care Program is accredited by CAPCE and The International Board of Specialty Certification. For more information on exam requirements for CC-P or FP-C upon successful completion of our program, please go to: https://www.ibscertifications.org/exam/exam-requirements

F5 = Virtual, Instructor-Led (live online streaming) Training.

Does the NREMT accept Medic-CE courses?

The NREMT accepts continuing education credits from CAPCE-accredited providers. Medic-CE is CAPCE accredited as an F3 and F5 CE provider. Visit our accreditation page for more information on current requirements for your state and NREMT certification.

Do you submit my course completion records to my state?

In order to ensure that record submissions are credited accurately and promptly, it is important that you ensure your license information is correct and updated accordingly.

Currently, the only states that allow direct submission of course completions are Virginia and Florida. We report these daily, and you can expect to see your courses reflected on the Florida-CE broker system the same day, and on the VA OEMS system two days after you complete the course or program.

For BLS courses, we submit records ONLY to New Jersey. We submit all course completions for a particular month at the beginning of the next month. They are dated with the date you evaluated them. After this, it typically takes NJ OEMS a few weeks to upload them. Note that NJ OEMS no longer makes online access available for NJ EMTs who wish to view their uploaded records.

I’m in California. Are your courses instructor-based?

Medic-CE.com self-paced courses (F3) provide access to an instructor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, via email or telephone to answer any questions a student may have and is, therefore, classified as instructor-based continuing education for CA students.

Virtual Instructor-Led Training
I showed up a couple minutes late for class, and the educator would not let me in. Why?

Since credit hours are awarded hour-for-hour, we require that a student be present for a minimum of 90% of the classroom time. If you show up 10 minutes past the start time, you will be below that threshold, and will not be allowed in the class. You will need to take the class at another time.

If you are having technical difficulties accessing a classroom and are late because of that, please contact us so we can notify the educator and let them know to allow you in so you can finish.

We STRONGLY encourage students to log in 15 minutes prior to the start of a virtual, instructor-led class so the student can call support for assistance before the student is late to class.

What app do I need to download in order to access the Medic-CE virtual classrooms on my smartphone or tablet?

Medic-CE uses Adobe Connect to support our virtual classrooms. To participate in a virtual class from your smartphone or tablet, you will need to download the Adobe Connect Mobile app. Please visit the app store on your device, or visit:

When I click on “Join Session,” my computer keeps asking me to download an Adobe add-on. Why is nothing else happening?

Pop-up blockers cause this issue and prevent the classroom from opening. Please check your web browser preferences to ensure your pop-up blocker is NOT turned on.

How do I schedule my courses ahead of time?

When logged in, go to the “Live Course Calendar.” Click/tap on your desired course and choose a time and date that works best for your schedule. After selecting the time and date, click/tap on “Click to Close” at the top of the page to return to the Live Course Calendar and schedule your next class.

There are classes I’d like to take that don’t have open seats. What can I do?

We limit our classrooms to 75 people so that instructors can adequately answer questions from their students. If there are zero seats left in a class, that class is full. However, students often need to reschedule courses. Check back frequently to see if any seats have opened in your desired classroom.

What if I can’t make it to a course I scheduled?

There is no penalty for missing a course you had previously scheduled. You can simply reschedule from the Live Course Calendar. If you know ahead of time that you cannot attend one of your classes, please reschedule as soon as possible to open up a seat in the classroom for someone else.

I finished a course in my refresher program. Why don’t I have a certificate of completion on my “Certificates” tab?

Credit is awarded when you complete the entire refresher program. You can see your completed courses by clicking on the Live Course Schedule, and then clicking on your enrolled program at the top of the page. This will take you to the program schedule, which displays all your courses. You will see your completed courses marked with a green checkmark here. Once you complete your final two-hour course, you will receive a certificate for completing the entire refresher program.

Do I need a webcam to participate in a live course or program?

No. The only requirement is that you are able to communicate via text in the classroom with students, and via chat with the educator. If you have a microphone, you are welcome to use that as well, but it is not required.

Do I have to be in front of a computer to take a virtual instructor-led training program?

No. As long as you have a strong internet connection via WiFi on your smartphone or tablet, and have downloaded the Adobe Connect Mobile app, you can take any pre-scheduled virtual instructor-led course from anywhere you have an internet connection.

NOTE: Cellular data charges may apply.

When I sign up for a VILT EMS refresher, do I have to take the courses in order?

No. You choose the courses as they fit your schedule, based on when they’re offered on our live course schedule. We offer virtual, live courses at various times of the day and week to accommodate varying shifts, schedules, and time zones.

NOTE: All class times are in eastern time.

I already have a subscription with Medic-CE. Why can’t I enroll in a VILT course or program using my subscription?

The unlimited subscription packages are for self-paced courses only. If you want to take a live instructor-led course or program, you will need to purchase these programs separately.

Do I need a textbook to follow along with the Critical Care Paramedic Transport Review program?

You are not required to purchase or use a textbook for the Critical Care Paramedic Transport Review program; however, if you would like to purchase a textbook to follow along with the course, we use the Jones and Bartlett set of textbooks.  Here is a link to the textbook for the Critical Care program:  https://checkout.jblearning.com/cart/Default.aspx?bc=04099-9&ref=psg
